Bublik succeeds Sinner and regains his throne in Montpellier!
Alexander Bublik won, this Sunday, the 14th edition of the Open Sud de France in Montpellier. In the final, he beat Borna Coric 5/7, 6/2, 6/3 in 2 hours and 17 minutes. The Kazakh thus succeeds Jannik Sinner on the tournament's list of champions, earning his 2nd title here since winning the 2022 edition.
As he had done throughout the week, Bublik conceded the first set to a more consistent Coric. But, as in all his previous matches, the Kazakh managed to turn the tide, thanks to a huge momentum. He won 8 out of 9 games between the middle of the second set and the middle of the third. He then saved 4 break points to seal his victory.
Bublik had also saved 3 match points in his second-round opener against Shapovalov on Wednesday.
